Bodega Bay
Vintage collecting cards, painted wood on canvas
103 x 103cm
SOLD
A collection of original, vintage collecting cards and painted wood arranged on canvas. The work is mounted behind conservation glass within a dark brown, wooden frame.
Featuring hand drawn images of different birds from around the world, these cards were produced by the Brooke Bond Tea Company in the 1960’s and have been gathered from a variety of sources. Brought together, they create a geometric pattern housed within a large circle. Hinting towards the notion of a perch, the painted wooden pieces provide a three-dimensional element.
The individual history of each card is evident in the marks, creases or worn edges and the general aesthetic of the
illustrations is typical of mid-century graphic design.
