Flowers 1933
Vintage collecting cards, painted wood on canvas
103 x 103cm
SOLD
A collection of original, vintage collecting cards and painted wood arranged on canvas. The work is mounted behind conservation glass within a dark brown, wooden frame.
Featuring hand drawn images of different flowers found in Britain, these cards were produced in the 1930’s and have been gathered from a variety of sources. Brought together, they create a geometric pattern housed within a large circle. Hinting towards the notion of a window box, the painted wooden pieces provide a three-dimensional element.
The individual history of each card is evident in the marks, creases or worn edges and the general aesthetic of the
illustrations is typical of the era.
