Vintage magazine covers, painted wood on canvas
61 x 87cm
SOLD
A collection of vintage, deconstructed magazine covers arranged on canvas with painted wooden pieces. The work is mounted behind conservation glass within a dark brown, wooden frame.
Using issues of The Practical Householder magazine from the 1950’s, segments have been cut from the front covers and laid out to form a vibrant, geometric pattern. The colours, typical of mid-century design, along with the depictions of domestic life at the time, evoke a sense of nostalgia.
Inspired by British post-war architecture, the pattern resembles an apartment block complete with windows and corresponding ledges.
