Pentonville Works
Vintage board game cards , painted wood on canvas
100 x 72cm
SOLD
A collection of vintage, deconstructed board game cards arranged on canvas with painted wooden strips. The work is mounted behind conservation glass within a dark brown, wooden frame.
Evoking a sense of nostalgia, these cards have been sourced from British Monopoly sets ranging from the 1930’s to the 60’s. Variations in colours tones between the cards indicate differing ink suppliers and manufacturing processes throughout the years of production. The individual journey and history of each item is evident in the discolouration, marks and general wear.
The cards have been cut into quarters and laid out to form a vibrant, geometric pattern.
