Practical Mechanics
Vintage magazine covers, painted wood on canvas
103 x 73cm
SOLD
A collection of vintage, deconstructed magazine covers arranged on canvas with painted wooden strips. The work is mounted behind conservation glass within a dark brown, wooden frame.
Using issues of Practical Mechanics magazine from the 1930’s to the 1950’s, segments have been cut from the front covers and laid out to form a vibrant, geometric pattern. The colours, typical of mid-century design, evoke a sense of nostalgia.
Details of each individual image can be seen at close range along with the challenge of finding corresponding pieces.
